Merstham winger Arron Hopkinson has set his sights on the play-offs in the Ryman League Premier Division.
The former Bognor Regis Town and Lewes wide man joined Merstham last season and helped the club finish 10th in their debut season at Step 3.
In addition, the 24-year-old scored in the 4-1 Surrey Senior Cup final win over Goldaming Town at Woking’s Kingfield Stadium.
Hopkinson believes with the summer signings the club can push on for a top five finish and has set his own personal targets:
“For the club, with the signings we’ve made, I don’t see why we shouldn’t be in and around the play-offs. Every team says that at the beginning of the year, on paper we look good but it just depends on it clicks.
“Personal targets I’d like to play a lot of games, over 40, and hopefully with that comes goals and assists. I normally assist more than I score but I’ve set myself a target of 15 goals this year.”
“With the way the season ended I was really happy as we hit all our targets and won a cup. I was happy to score in the final, it was a nice way to top the season off.
“There was some good performance but I still don’t think I got to where I want to be but we did well, picked up a lot of points and I want to also turn those points into better individual performances also.”
